Collagen biostimulators

Sculptra®, Radiesse®, PhilArt®, Ellansé®

Collagen biostimulators are substances that increase the skin's own production of collagen and elastin. They are ideal treatments for addressing signs of aging or for preventing them.

It consists of injecting various substances into the deep or superficial dermis, depending on the product used, and can be performed in areas with more sagging and loss of support, such as the middle and lower third of the face, neck, abdomen, arms, knees, and buttocks.

The production of collagen and elastin, and the redensification of the skin, is a lengthy process, therefore, the results of this treatment are not immediate, they appear gradually, and usually last for years.

  • What is the difference between the various biostimulators?

  • The difference between injectable collagen biostimulators lies in their composition and the pathways they activate to produce collagen. All are good alternatives. It will only be necessary to adjust the treatment to the patient's preferences and medical indication.
  • Sculptra®: the substance used to stimulate collagen is L-polylactic acid;
  • Radiesse® or Facetem®: contain calcium hydroxyapatite, calcium microspheres that can add volume;
  • PhilArt®: contain polynucleotide. It is the only biostimulator that can be performed at the periocular level;
  • Ellansé®: contain polycaprolactone, and if placed deep, can volumize the face.
